Buffett ends Gates Foundation donations over Epstein revelations

American investor Warren Buffett has severed his support for the Gates Foundation, citing concerns arising from revelations about Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates's interactions with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The decision marks a significant shift in one of philanthropy's most high-profile partnerships, with major implications for global charitable funding.

The 95-year-old Berkshire Hathaway chairman announced he will redirect approximately US$6 billion (A$8.6 billion) in annual donations away from the Gates Foundation toward four family charities overseen by his daughter Susie and sons Howard and Peter.

Buffett's decision represents a dramatic reversal of a 20-year commitment. In 2006, he made what he described as an "irrevocable pledge" to donate Berkshire Hathaway shares to the Gates Foundation throughout his lifetime.
